We have a few students working with Inventor, but most are working with 3DS Max.

Here is the weekly plan for 3DS Max people:
  • Begin reviewing the basics of the Materials.  Start with the Compact Materials editor!  While you begin that, I'm going to look at the 3D animated characters a bit.  Here's how they will be graded:
    • D - started something toward an animated character
    • C - have something built with a clear plan for animation, some attempt at it.
    • B - basics of animation (a wobble, a swinging thing)
    • A - a strong animation of a character, well-conceived and accomplished (something clearly animated, and intended to do be!)
  • Go into more depth on Materials:
    • How do the basics work
    • How do you create your own materials using photos
    • How materials affect rendering
  • Rendering tutorial
    • The basics
    • Using "the farm"
    • Cloud rendering
  • By the end of the week, you will make something "realistic".
